Making a difference while we run

No one should go to prison — or be in prison — for a crime they did not commit. To the folks at the New England Innocence Project (NEIP), it is that simple. That is why NEIP works on policy changes and public education to prevent wrongful convictions, and that is why NEIP identifies and helps people all across the New England states who are actually innocent of the crimes for which they were convicted.

On November 5, 2017, the Running for Innocence team will be participating in the 22nd Annual Genesis Battlegreen Run to support NEIP’s important work by raising money and awareness for the importance of fighting wrongful convictions. This event and fundraiser comes at a particularly critical time for NEIP, as it struggles to remain open to new cases. That is why we have set our sights high, hoping to raise $10,000 by October 2. The money raised in this campaign will ensure that the many men and women whose wrongful convictions NEIP is working to overturn have a fighting chance to achieve justice and freedom.

When & where?      Sunday, November 5, 12:15 p.m., Lexington, MA

Distance?                  5K or 10K (your choice!)

Joining the team is easy!

    • Register yourself for the running event (you choose whether to run the 5K or 10K) through the Genesis Battlegreen Run Foundation website (type/select Running for Innocence as your team affiliation when prompted on the website).
    • Let us know you’re signed up (and tell us your shirt size for our team shirt!) by emailing us at rfi@newenglandinnocence.org. You will then be added to the team email list so we can keep you updated on upcoming team events.
    • Start running and fundraising!

What is my fundraising commitment?

We have set a team goal of $10,000 for this event, which is based on the compelling need to raise funds to help NEIP keep its doors open to new cases. Returning runners are welcome to join us for this and any other future team events without any additional fundraising, but are encouraged to help if at all possible, whether by creating their own pages or sharing the team pages! All team members will receive a tech wick team t-shirt if they do not already have one.
